World Youth Day 2027 in Seoul: A Life-Changing Pilgrimage for Young Catholics

Hundreds of thousands of young Catholics carrying flags, singing in their native languages, and praying together in one city — this is the spirit of World Youth Day 2027 in Seoul, August 3rd – 8th 2027

World Youth Day is not simply a large gathering of young Catholics — it is a pilgrimage. Every 2 to 4  years, young people travel from across the world to pray, learn, and grow together in faith, experiencing the universal Church in a powerful and unforgettable way.

Founded by St. John Paul II in 1985, World Youth Day grew from the Holy Father’s desire to invite young people into a deeper relationship with Christ and the Church. What began as a gathering in Rome has since grown into one of the largest pilgrimages of young Catholics in the world, bringing together participants from every continent. The location of the 2027 celebration also reflects a remarkable chapter in Catholic history: the Korean Church was first formed by lay believers who encountered the faith through study and began evangelizing one another before missionaries ever arrived.

During World Youth Day, young pilgrims participate in daily catechesis with bishops, Eucharistic celebrations, and prayer alongside fellow Catholics from around the globe. The host city comes alive with a joyful spirit of camaraderie as groups proudly wave the flags of their home countries, sing songs in their native languages, and greet one another as brothers and sisters in Christ. Pilgrims gather for Eucharistic Adoration, receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and take part in one of the most powerful moments of the pilgrimage: the overnight vigil and final Mass celebrated by the Holy Father. For many participants, standing among fellow young Catholics while praying with Pope Leo XIV, the first American pope,  becomes a defining and life-changing moment of faith.

For decades, Regina Tours has helped Catholic youth experience World Youth Day, participating in eight previous celebrations and guiding pilgrims through this extraordinary global pilgrimage. Our experienced team provides the logistical support and guidance needed so youth leaders and chaperones can focus on what matters most — helping young pilgrims encounter Christ and the global Church in a profound and lasting way.
